I’m pleased to announce that the French version of the Website is now available! It took a few weeks, alternating between ongoing musical projects and the unexpected things life threw at me, to get there.
With this update it is now possible from any page to switch between the language versions of the content simply by clicking on the EN|FR menu in the top right corner. The search engine has been adjusted to return only the content targeted by the language you are in and the Website has been reorganized by language, so English content is now available under /en/ and French content under /fr/.
Aside from duplicating and translating the content, there was a lot of work on the technical side. A reorganization of the configuration file into multiple, for healthy management and separation of areas, and for better optimized deployments. Adding i18n (internationalization) to enable language support through the visual theme templates, a bit of Javascript and CSS to handle the changes brought by language support, and finally a 301 redirect from the old content to the new one.
